FIREBIRD by JENNIFER LORING ~ RELEASE BLITZ

Firebird
(Firebird Trilogy, #1)
by Jennifer Loring

Stephanie Hartwell is a journalist chasing the story of her career...
When superstar hockey player and notorious bad boy Aleksandr Volynsky is traded to the Seattle Earthquakes in a blockbuster deal, Stephanie demands the opportunity to prove herself by scoring an exclusive interview with a man with no love for the media...the same man she once thought, as a naive teenager, she'd someday marry.
An Olympian and Stanley Cup Champion, Aleksandr has achieved every goal he's ever set...
Now expected to carry a failing team on his shoulders, Aleksandr's troubles deepen when he encounters Stephanie after a season-opening loss. His lifestyle of drinking and random hookups has been a futile attempt to forget the beautiful tomboy who stole his heart nine years ago. And worse, fame and fortune have made it impossible for him to trust anyone--especially Stephanie, who is engaged to another man.
Romance rekindles, but tragedy reveals Aleksandr's dark side...
Being with Aleksandr in the first place jeopardizes Stephanie's journalistic integrity and threatens her career, and when he spirals out of control, it reawakens fears from her own history, making her unable to commit to a future with him.
When Aleksandr discovers the truth behind his self-destructive behavior, will his newfound self-awareness be enough to convince Stephanie to give him one last chance...

5 stars
This book....it brings so many feelings out. The one good thing about this book is that you actually feel everything that the characters are going thru. You feel pain during the breakups and injury, You feel joy during the happy and love moments. The author has a way of bringing you into the story and loving every minute of it or at least I did.
Alex, is a proud Russian and is determined to make his family proud with his hockey career. He's had to sacrifice some things along the way including Stefanie. They were best friends/lovers in school but that ended to soon. He has done some remarkable things like winning the Stanley Cup but also has a reputation of being a bad boy. He is traded to a team that desperately needs help. He is hurt and frustrated but still goes out and plays. He has never got over losing Stefanie.
Stefanie, is desperately trying to keep her sports journalist job and lands a job of a lifetime. It has it major throwbacks that she has to deal with all over again.. Sparks fly again but there's a problem, Stefanie is engaged to another man.
Alex and Stefanie are good together but have their fair share of problems, just like any relationship does but things go from good to bad in a instant for them. Both are dealing with a bunch of issues, Stefanie runs away while Alex turns to booze and women..not the best but during the healing process both realize that they aren't truly happy unless they are together. It's a roller coaster ride for the both of them but it does end happily for them. I really loved this story! It shows the realness of what can happen in relationships. Everyone has issues and its how we rise above them is how we show our what we're truly capable of. Stefanie and Alex definitely hit the highs and lows but rise above them to find their true selves, which is so remarkable. They find their true callings and where exactly they are supposed to be.
