Review: Chub Rub

Chub Rub Chub Rub by Shannon Youngblood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chub Rub was my first book by the author. It's a brutally honest look at what it feels like to be overweight from the inside.
But that's just the tip, this story is so much more than that.
Follow Maggie as she is brave enough to face a new challenge, something that scares her to death because it not only exposes the physical Maggie but the mental and emotional.
Watch her grow, watch her become more accepting of her body.
Watch as she learns to see herself through the eyes of a man who loves her.
Watch her learn to love herself.

"No matter what anyone says, I am a beautiful person inside and out."

Jackson may be as close to the perfect man as is humanly possible.
He is patient, he knows exactly how to handle Maggie, how to get inside her head when she needs it. He's the man determined to show Maggie that she's beautiful, inside and out.

The fact that the author expressed Maggie's emotions, her view of herself so well endeared the character to me quickly. Most of us have been uncomfortable with our weight at times and some of us have felt exactly as Maggie does, this is a story that so many can relate to. It's honesty, it's ugly at times but in the end even though it may not be what you hoped for, it's a beautiful thing.
