Genre: New Adult Romance

They tell you that a parent’s love is all consuming. I never put much thought into it. Not until the minute I heard her take her first breath. That little girl is my world. I’d do anything to protect her.

My ex signed over her rights and her family vowed that my daughter didn’t exist. Now that she’s gone, they want my little girl. They’re trying to say I can’t give her what she needs.

I’ve known Evan all my life. Our families farms run parallel with each other. He and my brother Aaron have been best friends for as long as I can remember.

What they’re trying to do is wrong. He needs my help, someone he can trust and I’m more than happy to do it. I volunteered without hesitation.

I should have thought about what it would be like to have our lives intertwined. I should have thought about what would happen when our time together ended and how my heart would feel when I had to walk away.

Review
5 stars
I will never hear Lady Antebellum's Just a Kiss and not think of this book. It was without a doubt the perfect song for Even and Kinley and will probably remain that way in my head forever.
This is one of those amazing stories that sucks you in and keeps you rooted to your comfy couch daring anyone, spouse or child, to interrupt your reading.
The single father story line is not a new one, however the mother being so removed from the whole pregnancy and birth experience is. Southern Pleasure's plot is unlike any I've read before and by far is one of my favorite books of this year. The book is heart wrenching and and healing all in one. Southern Pleasure shows you what it is to love unconditionally without expecting anything in return, what can happen when one person gives their all for someone else.

Kinley has always had a crush on her brothers best friend Evan. Realizing nothing will ever come of it she's resigned herself to being one of his best friends. As best friends do, she's there for him when he needs her most. Standing by his side for months, fighting her feelings to do what is best for him and his family.
When Evan's family is threatened she finds a solution and while Evan sees it as giving up her life to save them she sees it as everything she ever wanted, even if it is temporary.

Evan is so far out of his element he is lost. Having Kinley by his side to help him prepare for his daughters arrival is the only thing that keeps him sane. Not truly knowing what to expect, how to prepare or just how much his life is going to change, the only thing he knows for certain is that he wants his daughter.
Preparing to be a single father is scary. If not for his friends Aaron and McKinley he'd be in a ball on the floor crying like a baby. No matter what it takes he wants his child and does what most men wouldn't consider in order to make sure she's born and is in his life.
As selfless as we see Kinley as throughout the story Evan is too. His decisions changed more than just his life but he couldn't let his ex terminate her pregnancy, he wanted his daughter no matter what and made it happen. What he would give up for her never crossed his mind, and in the end what he gained was more than he could have ever hoped for.

There seriously needs to be a higher rating than 5 stars for this book. There were moments I had tears in my eyes, both happy and sad, and moments when I was all but begging Evan to open his mouth and spit everything he was feeling out. His feeling like he wasn't enough for Kinley broke my heart, how could someone who put others before himself just as she did not realize that even though he needed help it wasn't because he was less than what she needed.

Loved the story, fell in love with the characters and fully intend to add this one to the read it again shelf!
