This is my first KD Friedrich book, I did not read the first in this series but I'm definitely going back for it. Each book can be read as a standalone but after you read this one your going to want to go back and start with book one.
Sands of Time is a second chance at love. Jade quit school and left home years ago, escaping a horrific home life that no one but her aunt knew about, she also carried another secret with her when she left.
John Sands was the boy she loved, he now works for her father as a police officer. He's not one to settle down, love em an leave em has been his style. But there's one girl from his past, one that made him want more but she disappeared long ago.
It's been six years and Jade is coming home, bringing JT with her she worries that John will figure out he's his father, but she's alone in the world now that her aunt is gone and her father has apologized and swears he want's a relationship with his daughter and grandson so she's walking back into the hell she ran from hoping for a better life.
A few weeks in things go back to the way they were before, Jade is scared to breathe without her father's consent and this time JT is being targeted as well. Coming face to face with John was not in her plans, especially not with his son at her feet.
John sees Jade and realizes what he's always wanted, what he's been missing, and he's on a mission to get her back. She keeps pushing him away and he doesn't know why but he's not giving up.
When John sees the truth of what's been happening to Jade he's furious, can he handle another truth? The fact that he's a father and she never told him?
I love second chance romances and this one hit all the marks. KD Friedrich tells a great story that flows, is steadily paced and well written. I've found a new to me author to love.
