Review
Book one in this series and book two are opposite ends of the spectrum. The story lines are so different and almost seem to not belong in the same series.
I loved Torn and readily jumped into Tied. Having read the blurb I knew it was different but I didn't expect quite as much as I got.
Both Tyler and Holly have been through horrific, terrifying, heartbreaking tragedies. While trying to find some semblance of normal they find each other, which considering their pasts could have gone one way or the other.
As they spend time together helping each other to heal old wounds are once again opened up when they realize their tied to each other in more ways than one.

I wanted to give this book 5 stars but there's something nagging me that I didn't connect with so 4 stars it is.

Review
There are a few story lines that have to be handled just so in order for me to read them and enjoy them, the dead spouse/close friend falling for the widow is one of them and Jaycee Ford wrote it beautifully.
I've been a huge fan since reading the Love Bug series so I was thrilled to get my hands on Recluse.
It's well written, grabbed me from the beginning and I could not put it down. I read this book in one day shushing everyone around me.
The characters were realistic and I loved the suspense. I would have liked to see just a bit more focus on Wyatt and Grace and a bit less on the murder case, I feel it would have balanced out a bit better but I still loved the book.
I'm looking forward to whats to come in this series.

Layla Robinson is not crazy. She is suffering from unrequited love. But it’s time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive calling.

What she needs is a distraction. The blue-eyed guy she keeps seeing around campus could be a great one—only he is the new poetry professor—the married poetry professor.

Thomas Abrams is a stereotypical artist—rude, arrogant, and broody—but his glares and taunts don’t scare Layla. She might be bad at poetry, but she is good at reading between the lines. Beneath his prickly fa├žade, Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively.

Sometimes you do get what you want. Sometimes you end up in the storage room of a bar with your professor and you kiss him. Sometimes he kisses you back like the world is ending and he will never get to kiss you again. He kisses you until you forget the years of unrequited love; you forget all the rules, and you dare to reach for something that is not yours.

NOTE: Please be aware that this book deals with sensitive topics like cheating and death. 18+ Only.

Excerpt

I’m hit by a storm of desire to kiss him better. It’s a tornado, an avalanche in my body, and in one breathless moment, I decide to go for it. It’s okay. I can take the blame for it later.

I break the rules and reach up and kiss him. A feathery peck on his plump lips, it’s a kiss of solidarity, a kiss that intends to tell him I understand—but one isn’t enough. It only manages to ratchet up my lust. So I give him another, this time on the corner of his mouth, and then another one on his jaw.

It’s not enough, these small, barely-there touches. I want more, but I won’t take it. I’ll be good; I’ll only give.

Abruptly, he fists my curls and stops me. I look at him fearfully, ready to apologize—not for the kiss, but for being the kisser. His gaze reflects passion, stark, raving need, and I shiver, despite wearing layers and sweating with his heat.

“Are you trying to kiss me, Layla?” he rasps, flexing his fingers on my makeshift ponytail.

He couldn’t tell? Blush rises to the surface and I know I’m glowing like a neon sign. Swallowing, I nod. “Yes.”

He inches closer to me, still not touching—as impossible as that is—but infinitely closer. “You want to kiss me, Miss Robinson, you do it right.”

Oh God, does he have to call me that? Now, here? My spine arches on its own and my heavy tits graze the contours of his shuddering chest.

“H-How?” I ask innocently, belying the daring action of my body. His stern, professor-y voice is doing things to me, making me wild, uncontrolled.

For a second, he’s silent, just watching. I’m afraid he’ll back out from whatever this is, whatever insanity we’re about to commit—but then I sense the shift in the liquor-laced air as he opens his mouth and growls, “Like this.”

Author Bio

Writer of bad romances. Coffee Addict. White Russian Drinker. Imaginary Ballet Dancer and poetess. Aspiring Lana Del Ray of the book world.

I'm a big believer in love (obviously). I believe in happily ever after, the butterflies and the tingling. But I also believe in edgy, rough and gutsy kind of love. I believe in pushing the boundaries, darker (sometimes morally ambiguous) emotions and imperfections.

The kind of love I write about is flawed just like my characters. And I hope by the end of it, you'll come to root for them just as much as me. Because love, no matter where it comes from, is always pure and beautiful.

Review: His Rules scott hildreth

His Rules scott hildreth His Rules scott hildreth by Scott Hildreth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Once again I found myself completely wrapped up in a Scott Hildreth book.
No it's not MMA, it's not even MC but it still sucked me in from the first chapter.
We've met Marc before, he's made appearances in the FFMC books. I have to say I had mixed feelings about him based on what little I knew of him.
His Rules changed my mind quickly. He's completely freaking amazing, he like many of Hildreth's characters is much more complex than my initial opinion of him.
This man has rules but for good reason, while his rules may seem a bit off the wall to some they make perfect sense to him.
He's a good man, no a great man. He's loving, attentive, a protector and you'd have to be crazy to kick him out of bed!
I loved Taryn as well. Her growth, becoming more self aware was a beautiful thing to see. She changed but not for Marc, he was just the catalyst that helped her not so much to realize she needed to make changes but he was the key, the tipping point that allowed her to slowly start to want more, to evolve.

I had to force myself to put my kindle down and sleep instead of staying up and finishing this book. Having looked forward to this one for a few weeks I was happy that it pulled me in in a matter of pages, I enjoyed this one just as much as almost every other book by the author. (I'm pretty sure no book will take A-Train's place!!)

His Rules by Scott Hildreth ~ Release Blitz

HisRulesBannerLive

HIS RULES is LIVE!

His Rules is a spin-off of the Filthy F*ckers Series and can be read as a stand alone.

SYNOPSIS:

My endeavors to find the right man had afforded me countless hookups, infidelity, and a handful of one-night-stands. Then, Marc Watson stepped into my life. He was handsome, and not the kind that could be satisfied by simply taking a second look. Hell, men like him graced the covers of magazines and were the subject of every woman’s dreams. He was also intellectual and kind. The. Complete. Package. But. He had this ridiculous rule. To get a shot at him, I had to agree to be in a no sex relationship for thirty days. Making it thirty minutes without having sex with him would be a stretch. Thirty days would be impossible. It was the opposite of everything I had done in the past, but he assured me if I could comply, the reward would be mind-blowing. I’d never been one to back down from a challenge, so I took the deal. Little did I know that doing so would change my life forever. HIS RULES is a stand-alone romance with no cheating, no sex outside the relationship, and comes with a HEA and no cliff hanger.
