Slaughter by Shantel Tessier ~ Release & Review

Title: Slaughter
Author: Shantel Tessier
Genre: Romantic Suspense/Dark Romance
Release Date: October 26, 2018

Blurb

My name is Avery Decker, and my story isn’t for the faint of heart. It is about revenge and hatred, misery and violence. I wasn’t always this way even though it was in my blood. I grew up happy and in love with my best friend until she betrayed me and walked away. After that, I fell into the deep, dark world I was meant for.

Presleigh Clarke's actions turned me into the ruthless man I am today. Too bad for her, I believe people should pay for the things they have done. The more painful and messy, the better. I get off on making people bleed. It feeds my inner demon, and right now, he is starving. She crossed me once, so now she’ll know what it’s like to fear me. But not all stories end the way you think they will … mine certainly didn’t.

Excerpt

Big blue eyes stare into mine with a look of terror. Good, she recognizes me. Even in her drunken state, and eleven years later, she still knows who I am.

Her pink lips part, inhaling sharply. Her entire body goes rigid. I take a step toward her as she pulls me in just as she always did. I never could control myself with her. But this time has to be different. I have to be in total control of myself and of her.

She doesn’t move.

She doesn’t blink.

She doesn’t breathe.

Deciding to close the gap completely, I take two more steps until my body is close enough to feel the heat radiating from hers. Her long, dark hair drapes over one shoulder, and it looks good on her. She loved when I used to run my hands through her short hair and play with it. Now I just want to wrap it around my fists and force her to her knees. We never did fuck. We made love—always soft and slow. Now when I picture us in bed together, she is bound and gagged. That way, she won’t be able to stop all the sadistic shit that comes to mind.

I’ve become one of those men I swore to never be! All because of her.

I want her to beg me.

I want her to bleed for me.

I want her to love me.

But I’m not stupid. None of those things will come willingly. I’m gonna have to take them. And I have no problem with that. She made me who I am today, after all.

She continues to stand there like a deer in headlights. I give her a threatening smile but reach out to tuck her hair behind her ear in an innocent gesture when what I really wanna do is slap that look of surprise off her face.

Her body physically shakes.

“Hello, Bunny. Miss me?”

Review

Slaughter isn't for the faint of heart, if you're not okay with the hero slapping the heroine around, controlling her every move, then you may want to bypass this book.
It's pretty graphic, but if you can handle a man who is treating his woman like a slave then jump in!
Presleigh is strong, she's strong willed and mouthy and I loved her.
Avery is misguided. His hatred towards her is seemingly justified and she does nothing for the longest time to correct it.
They were first loves, they were engaged, shit went down that broke her physically and mentally and him emotionally.
Eleven years later he snatches her to keep an enemy from getting his hands on her and exacts his revenge on her for the pain she put him through years before.
Their story is a bit slow to start but goes places I never imagined once the truth comes out.
I was sucked into their story and read it in one day, I could not put it down.
