Review: Neverland

Neverland Neverland by Melissa Jane
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I'm not really sure where to start or what to say about this book.
I'll tell you that it really just didn't do it for me. There was potential, the beginning Romeo was the perfect young hero and Lucy the girl with a horrific home life she needed shielding from.
At this point it had potential to be a great love story (this is listed as a romantic thriller but sadly I don't think there's enough of the romance for it to truly fit the bill), Romeo and his family tried to protect her, in the end she made choices based on her upbringing, fell into the same cycle over and over and let yet another man try to save her which would eventually be her downfall.
I was hoping she'd man up, grow a pair an realize she had to take control of her life. I saw her childhood and expected she would fight to change it but Lucy isn't a fighter. And therein lies the problem for me. Weak heroines make me yell and curse at them and wonder just what the hell is going on in their heads and that's a no for me. Even her very last minute bravado didn't help, too little too late.
