Review: Ransom

Ransom Ransom by Laramie Briscoe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ransom is book one in the new LSERT series. If you've read the authors Moonshine Task Force series (which this is a spinoff of) you will recognize many of the characters.
I adored the MTF series and was looking forward to the beginning of LSERT and I wasn't disappointed!
The MTF is absorbed into a larger county wide group called the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team (LSERT). This is where old and new come together.
This is Ransom's story, he and Stella grew up together but he thinks of her as more than a friend, she just doesn't know it. He's the K-9 officer who happens to respond to Stella's call for help.
Stella didn't expect he'd be the one to show up, she's known him forever but recently the way she sees him has changed. He's not the boy she knew, he's the man she wants.
Their romance is a pretty smooth ride, not a ton of drama there which is a nice change from what I've been reading. They have a sweet relationship but that's not to say it lacks heat, these two burn the pages up quite effectively.
I loved their story and cannot wait for the rest of this series.
