So I went into this book blind and i was amazed. This is not your normal childhood friends turned lovers, seperated and found each other again. It has a dark side to this story.
One night changes everything for their families.. Greed and living the rich lifestyle will make you do crazy things including murder.
Conor and Jake had big plans. Go to college and then start their life together. That all got jacked one night.. What was supposed to a beautiful night turned into a fight for their lives. Things got crazy after this and justice was served.
I was a little unsure about Conor at first but she soon changed my mind. She has attitude and fight in her. She went through hell and survived. She lost her love, was beaten daily and sheltered by a monster but still came out of it. It changed her but she never forgot about Jake or Oklahoma. She wanted revenge.
Jake was changed that night as well. He found out things and between him and his brother, justice was served. He was just amazing! He helped Conor overcome her issues which included PTSD. It might not have been the proper way but it worked for them. It made them have trust in each other and heal from the past in order to move on. This book had me hooked! I couldn't put it down!
Buckled
I honestly didn't think this series could get any better but I was so wrong. This book was very, very hard to put down. This book had the perfect amount of drama and love. So Jarret and Maybe may have started out badly but they soon worked out their issues. It took a little for the trust to happen but its all about baby steps. Jarret brings out the best in Maybe. Makes her see and experience things she never would have. They complete each other perfectly. Yes there were some issues but Maybe had good reason to be snooping around. I must say the twist in this book, I never saw it coming but it was needed. It made them come out of their happy bubble and make some tough decisions. Made them question certain things and put things into perspective for them. Made them realize that love conquers all. This is not boy meets girl. they fall madly in love and live happily ever after. These two have to fight their demons and past to have a future with each other.
I really liked Maybe. Yes she told a fib but once she realized how amazing this group was, she opened up and told the truth. She had fight in her and proved to everyone she could hang with the big dogs. Jarret and Jake show their power in this one and prove to everyone they can handle anything that is thrown at them. Jarret does things a certain way and while Maybe wasn't on board at first, she soon found herself loving it. This book was so so good and I can't wait to read Lorne's book next!! Very well written story.

After Knotted I was addicted to this series. I have to say I was a little on edge when starting this one, I wondered what could possibly happen to these people next? Buckled didn't disappoint. Jarret's story is just as emotional, as protective and cocky as I expected. Maybe is a reporter come to Julep ranch for a story. The story nobody wants to tell and a reporter is the last thing they need hanging around. Leave it to Jarret to be the man to bring a pushy reporter to her knees, literally. After the first book, and yes you do need to read these in order,I was excited for book two but also a bit hesitant about it because I just didn't know if my heart could handle more horrors coming to these amazing men and women. A few chapters in I was entranced, never wanted to put it down and read it in one day ( I may have neglected housework!) Jarret & Maybe's story is full of snark and charm, cockiness and dominance. All leaving me ready for Lorne's book.

So this is the story I have been waiting for and it did not disappoint at all. This book has angst which makes the book so much better. I couldn't think of better way to end this book. It was just done perfectly.
So if you haven't read the other 2 books then you need to before you read this one. You need the reason why they need this closure. You will fall in love with this twisted, sweet, sexy and determined family. They stand together despite what may happen and come out stronger in the end.
Lorne has been in prison for 8 years and there's been a hole in the foundation. Once he's out, he's not the same person he was before. Prison changed him. He's harder around the edges now and obviously wasn't expecting a woman in his bed. Raina.. what can I say about her? She had to basically take care of her family her entire life. She did what she thought was necessary to help them out. She was used, abused and lied to.. She wants revenge and wants it now.
Both her and Lorne have this love/hate with each other but it turns out they both need it to make them work. It fuels the fire between them. This book will honestly blow you away! I was hooked until the very end. Both characters are incredible and have this way of bringing into their world. I must say I would love to hang out with all of them on the porch jamming out to all the songs. It sounds like such a great time! I will say I'm gonna miss this family so much.. They became apart of me.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Booted is book 3 in the Trails of Sin series and all the books should be read in order. This is one of those series you can't pick up book 2 without knowing how it all started. Lorne's story is finally here. Released from prison he comes home to find a broken woman in his bed. He's not the most sympathetic of men, he pushes. He's hardened by his time away but that doesn't mean he lost his soul. There's still a bit of the man who left inside him, just seeing him with his sister tells you all you need to know. The woman in his bed has been beaten and broken by one of the men Lorne hates most in the world, their both hardened and are at each others throats every chance they get. Raina is tough, she's definitely a match for Lorne in every way. I had waited for Lorne's book, he's the one we didn't see much of after the beginning of book one until now. Being Conor's brother I may have been more excited for him than Jarret's book. But it's also the end, the putting to bed everything that has haunted them for years. Everything that was a threat to their family has been dealt with. The much needed closure after the horrors of book one, the secrets and lies of book 2, it's all come to a head and I couldn't be happier. I hadn't read this author prior to this series but she is now one of my favorites, this series was just amazing.

| Holy hell what have I been missing? Knotted was my first book by the author and I have to wonder how she's stayed hidden from me until now. This book was everything. It's intense, dark, steamy, devastating and oh soo good. It hooked me in the first two chapters and I could not put it down. I loved each and every character (well not the criminals!). This book runs the full gamut of emotions, everything from sweet, innocent love to the darkness of death, I won't elaborate just not it's dark, gritty, heart breaking and has hands down the best resolution I've read in quite awhile. Loved it from beginning to end, this author is definitely going in my favorites list and I'm off to read book 2 in the series. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
