Excerpts #1
Another nightmare filled with the same intense feeling of panic and fear, still grabbing at that little girl who hid underneath her mother’s bed to escape the monster…her father. My hands were trembling as I lifted myself leaning on my elbow, and using the other hand to rub gently on the tiny knot that was forming on the back of my head. I wiped away the tears with the back of my hand as the salty contents covered my lips. I leaned up on my knees and stood, slowly reaching over to the lamp on the night table, desperately trying to find the switch. I turned on the light and shook my head. God, Jenesis, you’re pathetic!
Twenty years old and you’re still having nightmares about your father. I sat up on my bed and leaned my head against the headboard trying to catch the last breath I felt I had. I glanced over at the door as I heard keys jangle and watched as the doorknob slowly turned.
Excerpt #2
He pressed the CD player and Adore You by Miley Cyrus began to play. I was slipping on my bra when I heard my bedroom door slowly open. I could feel his presence, and as he walked up behind me, he slid his arms around my waist. I closed my eyes at his touch, my body quivering as I leaned my head back against his chest, placing my hands on top of his. He turned me around slowly, staring at me as he unhooked my bra with one hand, sliding my bra down my arms. He was eyeing my breasts with lust in his eyes, and then he trailed his finger between my breasts down to my belly button making tiny circles around it as he smiled at me seductively. He grabbed my hands and pulled me close to his body, kissing me gently on my cheek and then my nose. He lifted me by my waist and I wrapped my legs around him. I kissed his neck as he nuzzled his face into my hair. I whispered the words to the song softly in his ear. His warm, sweet breath, against my ear sent chills up and down my spine and my nipples hardened as I sang to him softly. I inhaled his scent, him, sweet like a martini, yet strong like his body, that drove me insane. He pressed his body against mine as he swayed his hips from side to side, grabbing on to my bottom, grinding himself slowly into me. He blew my mind and my body into complete ecstasy. I leaned my head back as my soft black curls lay against his arms as I followed his hips to the beat of the music. It was so sensual and we danced as my naked breasts pressed against his chest and my sweatpants hung from the corner of my hips.
Excerpt #3
“I’m sorry. I can’t control myself sometimes.” He loosened his hands that were folded tightly on the table.
“What the hell is going on? Between you and Dave, you’re both going to kill me with your mood swings.” My eyes stared at him intensely waiting for a response.
“What are you my mother?” he asked annoyed, staring at me deeply with his eyes burning a hole through me.
“I just want to know why you hate Dave so much, and why you wanted to kill Nick last night,” I said angrily, placing down the chicken wrap and throwing my napkin on the table like a spoiled child.
“I don’t hate Dave. I. Don’t. Like. Him. And don’t include that fucking asshole, Nick, in our conversation. He’s nobody,” he said as he glared at me heatedly.
“This is jealousy. This “not liking” people is ruining our relationship.” My voice cracked as I tried to keep it together before falling apart.
“I…I can’t help the way I feel. I…I love you.” He placed his fork on his plate and lowered his head. “This is too much for me,” he whispered. My heart pounded against my chest. Oh my God! He said it! He said he loved me.
“Michael?”
His eyes were glossy and now he seemed like the one who was going to fall apart.
“I love you Jenesis like I’ve never loved anyone before. You’re everything to me. I’m going to be 30 years old, and I’ve never felt like this for any woman. I have all of these weird emotions. This is really hard for me.” I grabbed his hand to comfort him and right then and there…I fell apart.

Review
I gave this book a 4.5 star rating. This book is so captivating. It has so much going on in it. Jenesis comes from a broken home, she has seen more things then most kids her age. She's currently in school but after tragedy strikes, she decides to leave it all behind and start fresh. She moves to New York City and befriends a Detective on the police force. Dave, turns out to be a great friend but towards the end it turns weird between them. She spots Michael one day and then they are in a relationship. She is so wrapped up in him that she misses a bunch of stuff. Things get strange as people she knows start dying. This book will pull at your heart strings as you read her story. I can't wait to read the next one to see what happens next and who she chooses!
